Recently, there’s been a growing trend in the pool industry that’s gotten a lot of attention, and for good reason. It’s insanely cool! We’re talking about hidden pools, an idea that allows home owners to have a pool without loosing valuable outdoor space.
Although, not a completely new idea, as can be seen in the 1946 movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, Hidden or Disappearing pools have come a long way since then. For home owners with little space, hidden pools are the next big thing. The pools enable home owners the benefits of a pool while having the option to hide it with a push of a button. This eliminates the need for pool covers while still protecting pool water and loved ones from accidental entry into your pool. If this seems a bit too futuristic to comprehend, here is a couple short videos illustrating the possibilities of these hidden pools.
Agor (shown above) is a company based out of Israel and was founded in 1990. They utilize a large hydraulic lift attached to decking or tile that raises and lowers with the touch of a button. The spacing between the composite planks or tiles allows water to pass through, enabling the floor to lift up and down to hide and reveal the pool.
As a talented engineer, Bill Klar had his own plans to build a hidden pool. He wanted a pool and his wife wanted to maintain a yard for her children. The compromise was a both getting exactly what they had wanted. Aside from some crazy looks, Bill managed to get it done. The, rather, impressive process can be seen above.

These pools are getting a lot of attention and they don’t come cheap. They can run you any where from $325,000 to $812,025 to get one of these pools custom made for your house. With that price tag some might be looking a bit more into the construction of Bill Klar’s custom build. Be that as it may, these pools are still impressive. Hopefully, more manufacturers taking interest in these hidden pools will drive prices down, until then, most of us can dream.
