Booster Pump

The Polaris PB4-60 Booster Pump is required for operation of the Polaris 280, 380, and 3900 Sport. This unit is equipped with a 360° adjustable volute, high effiency ¾ HP motor, pump stand, and installation kit (6’ of flexible softube, and 4 quick connect for the softube). The pump is not self-priming and should only be used when the main circulation pump is running.

Feed Hoses

The Polaris models will come with a complete pressure feed hose (back-up valve, hose floats, swivels, and hose nuts). The Polaris 280, 380, and 3900 Sport use the 31′ G5 feed hose. The 360 uses a corrugated 31’ hose 9-100-3100. The hoses for all the Polaris models can be adjusted to fit each specific pool length.

Universal Wall Connects

The Polaris models will come with a universal wall connect (universal wall fitting, red and blue restrictor disks, filter screen, pressure relief valve, and quick disconnect) . The Polaris 280, 380, and 3900 Sport  use the same style universal wall connector 9-100-9001. The 360 due to the corrugated hose uses a different style universal wall connect (universal wall fitting, quick disconnect, screen filter, and pressure relief valve) 9-100-3008.

Back-Up Valves

The Polaris models use a back-up valve The 280, 380, and 3900 Sport use the G52 back-up valve. The Polaris 360 uses the 9-100-1200. The back-up valve will open every 2-3 minutes and pull the cleaner backwards for approximately 30 seconds. This action allows the cleaner to avoid tight places and obstacles. It also increases the random pattern of cleaning.

Tires

The Polaris models come with tires suited for plaster/gunite or pebble tec pools. The Polaris 280,360, and 380 come with C10 Tire. The Polaris 280 has a C18 TankTrax Tire accessory for fiberglass and in ground vinyl. The Polaris 360, and 380 use a C13 PosiTrax Tire for fiberglass and in ground vinyl applications. The Polaris 3900 Sport has extra wide tires 48-232 and is capable of being used on all interior types.

Filtration Bags

The Polaris models use a top mounted filtration bag. These bags come in three different micron sizes leaf bag, all-purpose, and sand & silt for the Polaris 280, 360, and 380. The Polaris 280 comes with K16 All-purpose zipper bag. The Polaris 360 comes with the 9-100-1014 All-purpose velcro bag. The Polaris 380 comes with the 9-100-1021 all-purpose zipper bag. The bags will all have either a velcro containment or zipper containment (zipper containment available only on all-purpose bags). The Polaris 3900 Sport comes with the  39-310 Super Bag with zipper containment. To view all the bag available click here.

Sweep Hoses

The Polaris models have a tail sweep. The tail sweep is designed to gently sweep, scrub, and agitate the debris on the bottom of the pool. The Polaris 280 and 380 use the B5 sweep hose. The Polaris 360 uses the 9-100-1011 sweep hose. The Polaris 3900 uses the 39-500 sweep hose. If the tail sweep breaks the surface of the water, a jet of water can spray the surrounding pool area.   To prevent this use the sweep hose adjustment screw. Polaris created the TSP10S Tail Sweep Pro Scrubber to stop this issue completely.

Pools and how they work have been a part of my life for over 15 years. In fact I met the love of my life at a pool. I've always loved giving people easy to understand advice to help keep their pools fun, healthy, and circulating. Which is why I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge through the blogging channel. Outside of pools, I enjoy time with my family and friends, being outdoors, and working on cars.
